As I’m almost 40, I thought that I’d pretty much settled on what I like and dislike. I don’t mean new experiences, like visiting China, but the everyday, mundane stuff, like soft drinks.
Living close to a Chinese supermarket in Edinburgh, I was certainly aware that there was a whole world of Asian soft drinks that I hadn’t experienced. I’d tried a few, usually as part of some card-game forfeit, and roundly decided that, as far as cold soft drinks go, I like what I know and I know what I like. As long as it’s fruity (not necessarily identifiably fruity) and sweet, then I’m happy.
Until now.
I just can’t get enough of this stuff. It looks like ordinary grape juice but it’s got a delicious surprise – jelly. Sweet, fruity jelly too, not jellied badger toes like some Chinese drinks seem to contain.
“So what?” you might be thinking. I’ll say it again – it’s got jelly in it! JELLY!!
Perhaps I’m getting too excited. But you have to understand, I really like this drink. If you see it, you have to try it. But be careful, pick the wrong bottle and you might get The Wrong Jelly (jellied chicken beak?).
Trust me, it's over-rated ... Who wants jelly in a drink?
