Peking Duck

A trip to Beijing wouldn't be complete without trying the eponymous culinary delicacy, beipingju.

A whole duck between us cost 158rmb (about £16). The duck came whole and the chef carved it in 60 seconds flat with a cleaver. We got two plates of meat the size of the one in the picture. The flesh was melt-in-the-mouth tender and the skin was crispy. Unlike some Chinese restaurants I've been to in the UK, there were plenty enough pancakes, cucumber, onion and sweet sauce.
If you're in the area, the restaurant was called Nuage and is at the north end of Qianhai lake. It was delicious!
